Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Famagusta traces its origins to the establishment of the Cypriot Commercial Chamber in 1927, which operated solely from Nicosia and represented cities across the island. In 1952, the Commercial and Industrial Federation of Cyprus was founded, with the Commercial and Industrial Federation of Famagusta operating as an affiliated body. These organizations merged in 1963 to form the Cyprus Commercial and Industrial Chamber, with local chapters in Nicosia, Limassol, Famagusta, Larnaca, and Paphos serving commercial and industrial purposes. The Famagusta chamber subsequently established itself as an independent entity after meeting membership requirements and operated from various office locations before the 1974 Turkish invasion. Following displacement in 1974, the organization continued its operations from other parts of free Cyprus. Since 1979, the chamber has maintained office facilities and expanded its presence, opening a branch in Paralimni in 1996 and relocating to larger premises there in 2010. The chamber currently represents approximately 400 active members distributed across commercial, industrial, and services sectors, with members located in Limassol, Nicosia, Larnaca, and the free areas of Famagusta district. The Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Famagusta engages in activities including publishing certificates of origin for member exports, issuing its own newspaper and information bulletins, coordinating with international chambers through cooperation agreements established since 1971, and hosting six professional associations that receive administrative support. The organization works to address member concerns, promote economic development in the free Famagusta region, and foster international trade and cultural relations.
