DPAM is a children's clothing retailer that was established in 1978 when a Paris-based costume designer opened a clothing store. Recognizing that the children's apparel market lacked vibrancy and originality, the founder created a distinctive line of children's clothing characterized by colorful designs and imaginative storytelling. The company's first retail location was formally named Du Pareil au Meme in 1986, which also serves as the company's full trading name.
